Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

There are plenty of Fuse combinations in Zelda: TOTK, but a handful of them are especially useful for exploring and winning fights against enemies.

Fusing weapons is part of the natural The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay. Players aren't really left with much of an option as many of the base weapons have tarnished and are rusty versions of themselves with pathetic damage. Therefore, fusing any of the many materials in the game onto them is the only way to increase damage and durability.

While there are tons of combinations available to players as pretty much anything can be fused together, including weapons on top of other weapons, there are some combos that can be more useful to Link while exploring Tears of the Kingdom's large map because they can help clear the way of both enemies and barriers.

The Zonai Rocket is a great device to have attached to a shield and can come in very handy as its benefit is the ability to launch Link into the sky. As most players of Tears of the Kingdom know, gaining high ground for either a better vantage point, quick travel via the paraglider, or just to escape enemies can be a vital part of gameplay.

The Zonai Rockets unfortunately are not going to be found until mid-game, but there are Zonai dispensers that contain them so stock up when coming across those. Unfortunately, this also only has a one-time use as the Zonai Rocket will expire off the shield once it is used by Link meaning another will be required the next time he needs it.

Another fusion that is useful from the very beginning is one that is actually taught in the Tears of the Kingdom In-Isa Shrine on Great Sky Island when Link is gaining the Fuse ability. It is combining a boulder or rock with some form of melee weapon. This is a very simple combo and while it isn't the best for fighting Tears of the Kingdom enemies, it is useful for exploring.

It has the power to break through cracked barrier walls as well as smash ore deposits. Ore deposits usually contain valuable resources, so it's best to always have this combo on hand which shouldn't be hard since rocks are everywhere.

The Zonai devices come in very handy when fusing items and in this case, the Flame Emitter paired with a shield can be a great option for protecting Link while doing damage. When Link is shielding himself, the Flame Emitter will shoot flames at everything surrounding it.

This is an incredibly useful way to add damage when on the defensive, but just be careful as it drains fairly quickly so don't become too reliant on it. It is best used when Link needs a moment to catch his breath in the midst of a battle with several enemies.

The Diamond may not be something many are eager to waste on a weapon as it can be a valuable selling item, but consider it, especially if Link has multiple in the inventory. Diamonds are great damage boosters as they increase the damage to the weapon their fused to by +25.

This is more than some of the weapon fusions offer combined and can be an amazing asset for facing some of the Tears of the Kingdom's bosses. However, as it is very valuable, it's best not to waste on any low-damage weapon bases.

Combining The Diamond with something a little more significant for a weapon that is sure to feel overpowered, especially in early-game.

Mushroom Spears might sound a little silly, but they do something of great benefit especially when dealing with enemies that pack a powerful punch. Fusing the spear with the mushroom creates a bouncy weapon that pushes enemies back when they are poked with it.

It isn't the most damaging of weapons, but if Link is low on health and needs to keep some space, this can help him give him the edge in those situations. It's also super easy to make as spears can be found in most general enemy locations and mushrooms are all over the Tears of the Kingdom map, both sky and surface level.

The Zonaite Sword is definitely no Tears of the Kingdom Master Sword and may not seem like much at first, however, it does have a feature specific to it which is that it will give an extra damage power boost when fused with a Zonai material such as the Flux Core or anything similar.

While Zonai enemy materials are not necessarily easy to find, they can typically be found as a drop item when killing mini Zonai bosses, one of which is on Great Sky Island and can even be fought during the tutorial period of the game.

Bomb flower arrows are one of the top combinations for arrows. When fusing a flower bomb onto the arrow, it becomes a ranged explosive. Wherever it lands, it will erupt doing damage to any enemy in the vicinity. While it isn't likely to do enough damage to kill unless fired directly at a target from close range, it will knock off some of the health from each enemy and cause a little bit of a frenzy while Link has time to take advantage of the situation and get the jump on them. If looking to stay completely ranged in combat with a particular enemy, firing off a couple in a row should get the job done.

While most players generally prefer to sell gems, they can have other valuable uses. Combining them with a shield can create an elemental form of protection. The Ruby being associated with Fire, the Topaz with Electricity, and the Sapphire with Ice.

When enemies strike the shield it will deal damage to the enemy based on whatever associated element corresponds to that gem. Additionally, which is what helps make this such a valuable combo, is that Link will be protected from the associated element as well when using the shield.

The explosion barrel shield is a weird one, but useful. Similar to the Zonai rocket, it will only allow one use before it is destroyed off the shield. When the barrel is fused with the shield, simply trigger the Tears of the Kingdom Shield Surfing and the barrel will explode launching Link pretty significantly into the air.

This has the added bonus as well of doing damage if Link is able to trigger the explosion above a group of enemies. This is a useful combo and more readily available than Zonai rockets as explosion barrels can be found in almost every enemy territory.

This combination could technically be merged into one general idea as the Elemental Fruit does a similar thing to the elemental Chuchu Jelly which is simply that it gives the arrow the added power of that element. This is incredibly useful in plenty of ways both with exploring and battling.

When exploring, Ice Fruit or Jelly can be used to create frozen platforms similar to Zelda: BOTW's Cryonis ability and Fire Fruit or Jelly can be used to burn the way through some things. Finally, being able to stall The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom enemies with elemental damage between melee hits can mean the difference between a win or loss.
